Barranco Anosma and Barranco Ijuana<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Barranco Anosma is located on the eastern side of the Anaga Mountains in Tenerife. It is the last gorge on the east side of the island before the north coast. Many hikers who set off here to the last tip of the island of Tenerife usually continue straight on to Chamorga, which beckons with its many hiking tours<\/a>. But a stop is worthwhile. If you stop in Lomo de Las Bodegas just before Chamorga, you can hike two gorges at once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The longer and far more exciting hike leads into the Barranco de Ijuana and to the beach of the same name. But if I’m honest, on this tour – especially on the last section – you can’t really talk about hiking anymore. To get to the beach, you have to scramble more or less very steeply down to the beach on barely existing paths. This is very exciting for those who love adventure and also like to go down steep slopes. But I have decided not to present this „hike“ here in order not to put anyone in danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lonely, rugged and little visited – Barranco Anosma<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But it doesn’t necessarily have to be the Barranco Ijuana. Barranco Anos also has a lot to offer. Whether it is due to its remoteness or its proximity to Chamorga, Barranco Anosma is still relatively quiet. This means that you will probably meet no or very few other hikers. Of course, this can change quickly at any time. But this little gorge is so remote that few hikers are likely to set out for a visit. The last time I was there in February 2023, it was particularly worth seeing. Because the entire Barranco Anosma was green and full of small waterfalls due to the many previous rainfalls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was last in Barranco Anosma years ago, it looked completely different. But besides the greenery and the water, you also encounter rugged rocks, goats and lonely paths. If the Barranco wasn’t so far away from where I live, I would probably be there once a month. That’s how much I liked it in the lonely gorge. But just make up your own mind and decide whether you too would like to name Barranco Anosma one of your favourite tours on Tenerife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General information about the Barranco Anosma hike<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting point and approach<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The starting point of the hike is the small village of Lomo de Las Bodegas (520 metres altitude) near the Anaga mountain road TF-123.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrival by car<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can only get to Lomo de Las Bodegas on the Anaga mountain road TF-123, which you take from El Bailadero towards Chamorga. Just before you reach Chamorga, there is a small road to Lomo de Las Bodegas signposted on the right. If you take this road into the village, you will come to a small square. On this square you will usually find a parking space for your vehicle. If this is not the case, you will have to drive back and park at the side of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrival by bus<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Time<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

II don’t like to give general times for hiking tours, because the times are very individual. It took me a little over 4 hours and 30 minutes to cover the entire distance, including a break at the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altitude difference and route length<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The difference in altitude is about 700 metres up and down. And the route is just under 10 kilometres long. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Requirement<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, this is a difficult hike, as the paths are not always easy to find and are also quite steep at times. You should be sure-footed and have a head for heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refreshment stops<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I did not see any refreshment stops in Lomo de Las Bodegas. Therefore, please take enough water and, if necessary, food with you for the hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Variants <\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
