An unexpected encounter with mouflons It was an absolute coincidence. Actually, we wanted to go hiking in the north of Tenerife that day. But it was raining heavily and looked very dark towards the north. And so we decided to stay in the southwest and walk a little round high above Arguayo towards the Teide […]

Tamaimo tunnel blocked by bar operator
What happened to the former bar operator on the Camino Real? December 2021 to April 2022 In December 2021, I reported on the bar owner for the first time. At the time, he had apparently illegally set up a bar directly on the Camino Real between Puerto de Santiago and Tamaimo. In the bar, he […]
Tunnel closure between Cuevas Negras and the Barranco de los Cochinos
As I heard yesterday from hikers, the “water tunnel” between the Cuevas Negras and the Barranco de los Cochinos is now closed. Therefore, the hike “Hike through a wild gorge with water tunnel” is not possible at the moment. Since mid-February 2022, the tunnel appears to be open and accessible again from both sides.
Tunnel closure – on the Acantilados de Los Gigantes
On a hike from Los Gigantes via the cliff path today, I noticed that massive doors are ready to close off the tunnel between the Acantilados de Los Gigantes and the Barranco Seco (see picture). Then the popular hiking route “Double Tunnel Trip” will no longer be passable. However, I don’t know if it is […]

Guergues climb closed
Since mid-March 2018, the Guergues Climb has been closed. The area probably belongs to the owners/goat farm Casas de Araza. At the moment I don’t know anything about the exact background. Already in the last few years the owner has objected to dogs (even on a leash) being brought onto the trail. Now he seems […]

Forest fire in Tenerife
Another forest fire August 2023 on the north-eastern flank of Tenerife I last reported on a large forest fire on Tenerife on the southern flank of Mount Teide in April 2018 (see below). Since then, there have been fires from time to time on Tenerife and also on the other Canary Islands. The last fire […]
